Banksy (Graffiti Artist)
When asked if he feels graffiti should be defined as 'art' or 'vandalism': "That word has a lot of negative connotations and it alienates people, so no, I don't like to use the word 'art' at all." Banksy is a global cultural icon, with some of his more famous work appearing on 'the wall' in Palestine, and his this is not a photo opportunity tag in London being featured in one of my photographs. I wish his graffiti was all over Vancouver. |
Troy M. Litten (Photographer)
Troy Litten is my main inspiration for doing what I do. His travel photography is poignant and nostalgic, while maintaining a very realistic point of view. In the back of his photographic book, Wanderlust, he has this to say on being a travelling photographer: "When I travel, the destination is not really the point." All this time, I've tried to sum up my motivation, while he can put it down into one sentence in the back of a book. I guess that's why the man is my hero. Kudos to you, Troy.
