Music is one of the most important things in my life, and everyone that knows me well enough is aware that it's life-altering. Here's a list of albums worth checking out:

1. Nothing Feels Good
by The Promise Ring

The defining album of the now-dead mid-90's emo genre. Chaotic, repetitive, but so catchy and poppy. Highly nostalgic.
The Birth of the Cool
by Miles Davis

Does anything really need to be said about Miles Davis? This is his crowning opus.
2. Reconstruction Site
by The Weakerthans

Uplifting indie rock from Winnipeg. This album never fails to make me smile.
We, The Vehicles
by Maritime

The album The Promise Ring would have made after Wood/Water.
3. Know By Heart
by American Analog Set

I'm a sucker for electric pianos from the 1960's. Warm and fuzzy all the way through. Aaron and Maria just might be one of the most adorable songs ever written.
Global Underground 24: Reykjavik
by Nick Warren

Ethereal, haunting, sleek; not normally words one uses to describe a Global Underground album. But what else do you expect from Nick Warren? One of the best chilled out house mixes ever.
4. Takk
by Sigur Rós

This album has some slow moments where you might find yourself reaching for the skip button, but how can you go wrong with the one-two punch of Glósóli and Hoppípola?
The Golden Hum
by Remy Zero

You may recognise these guys from Smallville and The Garden State. Supposedly, they've gotten back together to work on a new album.
5. Stunt
by Barenaked Ladies

The best band to ever emerge from north of the 49th parallel.
End On End
by Rites of Spring

Totally abrasive and sometimes difficult to listen to, End On End inspired two decades worth of hardcore and real emo (see: The Promise Ring).
